The course was originally based on a Cape Technikon
prototype which was workshopped with
librarians and academic support specialists at the
University of Cape Town, the then Peninsula Technikon, the
University of the Western Cape, the then Cape Technikon and
the University of Stellenbosch. These were the member
institutions of the Cape Higher Education Consortium
(CHEC). The version for the Cape Higher Education
Consortium was developed in 2001 by Janine Lockhart and Adriaan Coetzee
of the Cape Technikon.
It sets out to teach the most commonly
needed information concepts in higher education learning
at all levels but it emphasises the skills needed
for first-time, entry-level, study.

This course has now been customized for the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) in 2010. The developer
welcome any feedback on any aspect of this resource and would gratefully receive any suggestions for enhancement and
improvement. It is envisaged that later versions might incorporate
such suggestions. The developer may be contacted at the CPUT, or by e-mail to lockhartj@cput.ac.za. |
