Writing the report / assignment

The elements required to compile a bibliography

Author, personal

  • Give the name in the inverted form - the last name (surname) first, followed by the intials or the first name: Stewart, D.M. or Jones, Jennifer.
  • Use the initials only, even when the full name is given on the title page. However, choose between the two formats and then be consistent.
  • If you choose to use the full name as in Jones, Jennifer - note the different punctuation applied in the bibliography if there is more than one author. Click here to see the example for Harvard and APA.
