STEP 5: COMMUNICATE

Copyright

How do I obtain copyright permission to use somebody else's work?

Any member of staff who wishes to provide students with course notes or readers which include not only original material but also copyrighted material should obtain permission for such reproduction through CHEC (Cape Higher Education Consortium).

The Publishing Liaison Office at CHEC operates a copyright clearance centre on behalf of the four tertiary institutions in the Western Cape.

Copyright permission is obtained on-line and in order to protect your data and privacy, you are required to register before you can use the system.

You will find this facility at:

https://chrysalis.its.uct.ac.za/cgi/cgi_plo_user.exe OR alternatively use the following URL: https://chrysalis.its.uct.ac.za
Choose option 3: PLO (Publishing Liaison Office).

If you have any copyright queries please contact Ms Janetta van der Merwe: tel. no (021) 763-7112. email: jwv@chec.ac.za or Mrs Lemeez Hendricks at tel. no (021) 763-7104, email: lemeez@chec.ac.za
